Top 10 Things About Spring

26 Mar

Spring is such a wonderful time of year; the world seems refreshed and happy during this season. We are a little less than a week into Spring, and I have enjoyed it so much already. To celebrate the season, I put together this list of the best things about Spring.

10. Love
It probably seems strange to put love on a list of things about Spring. It is a little strange. But people seem to fall in love in the Spring. Dustin and I officially started dating in Spring. My parents’ anniversary is in Spring. High schools have prom in Spring. It is a love-filled time of year.

9. Open Windows
In the winter it’s usually too cold; in the summer it’s typically too hot. The light breeze of spring encourages open windows like nothing else. Everything seems a little less stuffy when you’re looking through a screen door.

8. Birds
There are few sounds as cheerful as birds chirping outside your window.

7. Winter Hibernation is Over
After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, the world always seems a little less populated for the rest of the winter. People rush inside to get out of the cold. Kids abandon swing sets and slides in favor of board games and inside toys. The only people you really see outside in winter are smokers, dogwalkers, and other people who have an obligation that requires them to be outside. But now that spring is here, people are spending time outside again. Children are outside playing. The ice cream man has started making his rounds. Couples are taking long walks together. The winter hibernation is over, and it’s nice to see people outside again.

6. More Daylight
It’s always a little frustrating to turn the clock ahead an hour at first. But, once sleeping patterns have been adjusted, it’s really nice to have the extra daylight. It makes it feel like so many more things are possible each day.

5. Closet Transitions
After a few months of being bundled underneath heavy coats and sweaters, it’s a wonderful feeling to step outside in just a T-Shirt.

4. Beautiful Weather
Admittedly, here in the Midwest we do have to deal with horrible tornados during this time of year. But, a lot of the time we have perfect temperatures and blue sunny skies.

3. The Colors
The grass is brilliantly green. Flowers are blossoming in every color. The sky is incredibly blue. After Winter’s monochromatic color pallete, these colors are a nice change.

2. Spring Candy
I’m not sure why Reece’s decided to only release the best versions of their product (Reese’s Easter Eggs, Reester Bunnies, etc.) in the Spring. And, I’m not quite sure why Girl Scout cookies are only available for a short time at the beginning of each year. I’ll probably spend the rest of the year puzzled, but for now I’m just going to enjoy the sweets.

1. Easter
It’s a really wonderful holiday for so many reasons. The yearly reminder of all Christ has done for us is absolutely a blessing.

What is your favorite thing about Spring? Let me know in a comment.

    Too many things to list!
I suppose the best is/are: birds nesting & their song… Fresh green grass… Lilac.. Lighter nights and longer days.. everything, but mainly, renewal and the promise of another tomorrow after that god awful winter.
Oh! And chocolate eggs. Nom Nom Nom 😀
Ps congrats on being FP’d, the masses are rarely sincere, they post randomly on everyone’s blogs for the publicity.
