June 4 – Summer Lovin’
Sitting on the balcony watching a summer storm come in is a wonderful way to spend an evening. Summer is my favorite season.
Some of my favorite things about summer:
- Abundance of ice cream
- Warm weather
- Spending evenings outside
- Storms (Summer rainstorms always remind me of a Peter Rabbit video I had when I was little.)
- Longer days and the sense of possibility they bring
- Gardening
And since my blog schedule was kind of non-existent last week, I have a few bonus photos to share today. This year’s balcony garden has gotten off to a wonderful start.
What are your favorite things about summer?

To name a few . . . gardening, being outdoors, camping. Have a Great Day:)
I’ll share a secret: I’ve only been camping once, and that was in the middle of Panama City so I’m not entirely sure it counts. My husband loves it though, he really wants me to try it out this Summer.
As long as you are OK with bugs, you will have a blast. I miss camping (husband is a mosquito magnet) but still have all my gear… which came in useful when the power was out for days last year!
My wife was sure she would not love camping, but she is so hooked. She loves it. Out in nature, cooking over a campfire, away from the hustle and bustle. Good food, good company, good times. She LOVES camping now. She hates bugs, hates dirt, and should have every reason to hate it, but she loves it.
Summer storms are absolutely the BEST.
Of course, since it SNOWED here last night, I supposed I’ll have to wait a bit for the sweet smell of sage, post-rain…
Oh wow! I can’t imagine snow this time of year. Where are you?
Reno, Nevada — it snowed today, too.
But on the plus side: We typically have four gorgeous seasons and 320 days of sunshine. It’s just a CRAZY weather year!
Crazy. I’ve never been to Nevada, but it never makes me think of snow. Do you guys normally have a snow day or two this time of year?
I love sitting out on summer evenings, there is always that amazing smell of summer when it’s warm and just coming dark
We don’t get a lot of summer storms here in Southern California, so I’ll replace that one with baseball. Ha ha ha…My wife and I worked really hard the past few weeks to build a bigger vegetable garden, and we’re looking forward to reaping those benefits this summer. So that will be a new experience for us.
Of course, with your blog title I now have songs from “Grease” in my head.
Hope you have a fantastic summer!!!
I live in an apartment, so my garden is rather small. (Four pots small to be exact)
Enjoy your veggies!
Long vacations with the whole family is what I love the most about Summer. In the place I live, the weather is always like summer so it doesn’t make much of a difference but the holidays in the summer definitely brighten things up
I think I could live with Summer weather all year.
Thanks for stopping by!
Where do you live? I would move there if i could if the weather could always be like summer!:D
I’m located in Southern Missouri. Our weather is nice right now, but it’s not summer all the time. We normally have four very distinct seasons, and our weather often will be completely different in the afternoon than it is in the morning.
Where are you? What is your weather like?
I live near New York and the weather here can be crazy. It’s almost summer now, but during spring we can have days where it’s in the 80′s-90′s and absolutely beautiful. Then one day in the 50′s with thunderstorms. I wish I lived in a place where it was 70′s-80′s all the time haha;D
love it. currently my favorite things about summer are feeding my baby calves and meeting friends at the beach…
cant wait for the beach!
Reblogged this on 8BIT.
Summer is definitely the way! Living in Toronto myself, I don’t think you will find that many people who doesn’t like summer here
Congrats on being FP – YAY!!!
Such pretty pictures! Reminds me of summer! I especially love the red ice cream stick!

The stars at night is one of my favorite things and the fact that it’s warm enough to go out at 2 am and just stare into them.
The promise of renewal is another favorite thing. No matter what happens, in the summer, I just feel different than what I feel in the winter.
Nice topic. And I love gardening too

I love the long days, the lingering evening light.

My favorite things about the summer is the clothes. I don’t like the winter clothes it is too much for a person like me that born in the Caribbean. I love to wear fresh!
I love these photos, so summery and fun
Some of my favourite things are the warm evenings and the feel of the sun. Not that we have had much this week. Oh and not having to wear loads of layers, certainly won’t miss that
cute post
Congrats on being freshly pressed! You and I were on a similar wavelength this week…. albeit on different ends of the spectrum. I wrote about all the things I hate about summer. http://getwritedowntoit.wordpress.com/2012/06/05/ten-reasons-to-hate-the-season/
Your blog entry was a lot cheerier! Almost made me love summer…. almost
strawberries!!!
homemade pops are amazing!
Haha! I think I know what Peter Rabbit video you are talking about
I love Ice cream during the summer too, and water parks!
Abundance of ice-cream!!!
For me, it is the longer days!
I love SoCal summers AND balcony gardens. Ice creams not so bad either!
Congrats on being Freshly Pressed.
You Matter! Smiles, Nancy
“Longer days and the sense of possibility they bring”
Such a nice way to write about being close to the sun this time of year. It does seem like we are much more active with the longer days filled with light. The possibilities are endless
I feel a Haiku coming on…
What a great way to spend summer at the beach and yes, definitely lots of ice cream and tropical fruit shake.

Abundance of summer vege in the garden, birdsong, sunshine, summer holiday.
Pity we’ve just started winter with an abundance of snow today!
I’ll share my summer photos and you can feel warm vicariously through me. How’s that?
Where are you located?
Sounds good!
I’m in New Zealand. Christchurch, in the South Island. We only get snow a couple of times a winter (and only 10-20cm or so), so when we do it’s pretty exciting. We may be in for a good winter, we don’t normally get snow til July/August at the earliest.
One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to relax and take beautiful digital pictures. I really enjoyed yours! Good luck with your gardening! Thanks for sharing. http://www.segmation.wordpress.com
I LOVE your photos! So summery and fun. Congrats on being Freshly Pressed.
summer is my favorite season too!
In cold countries, Summer is indeed a valuable time to enjoy life!
summer season is great ,agree your blog. spend evening with friends outside, warm weather ~~cool!
Ah, summer and the ice-cream in yoru first photo – you name it!
But you have to give some credits to tanning on the golden beaches by the sea or by the lake as well as to all of those things that turn in blossom. How amazing it is to walk after a short quick rain shower and be able to smell the wild roses… This reminds me – I need a vacation.
Great post!

Congratulations on a successful news
lovely post
I love the first photo
looks yummy and pretty all at once!
Growing up in Australia a summer storm to end a hot humid summer’s day was definitely my favourite thing about summer. Here in London, what they call a “thunder storm” is a slight rumble in the sky and lots of rain (not quite the same) so my favourite things about summer in the U.K would have to be picnic’s in the park. Everyone swarms to the park’s at the first whiff of sunny weather and sitting out on a blanket people watching with a chilled glass of wine or cider is awesome!
I love the longer days, reading in my balcony, swimming in the lake or the sea and dining and partying outside in the company of family and friends
Excellent post. This is really a good work. I appreciate your efforts behind that.
Thanks for sharing!
My favs — summer concerts in the park, family reunions, and 4th of July in DC.
Congrats on the FP
The 4th of July in D.C. sounds like a wonderful experience.
rooftop bars and eating outside are some of my favorites!
Is that a Dilly bar? Looks like one, love it!
Yes, it is! I just discovered dilly bars a few months ago. I love the cherry coating.
Definitely the food! Grilling out, cold cocktails, beach time and summer tunes. Congrats on being Freshly Pressed!
That ice cream had my name on it. No literally, I can see it spelled out in the melting ice.
My favorite summer things would be “enjoying home” !
And of course going on vacation with whole family ! would just be PERFECT

Can’t forget the smell of freshly cut grass.
My favorite part of summer is sitting on the porch in the evenings with an abundance of bug repellant of course!

What is that Red Icecream? I dont think we have those in the UK. But they look delicious! Unless – did you make it?
I didn’t make it. It’s a dilly bar from Dairy Queen. It’s vanilla ice cream covered in a cherry candy coating. Super yummy!
I’m in Florida, so in the summer my favorite thing is the perfect breezy temperature around 9-10 at night. It’s amazing.
